ANA BALOSIN

Ana Balosin is an Associate Lawyer at Gherdan & Associates, Romania’s first law firm dedicated exclusively to sports law. She was admitted to the bar in second place nationally and in first place at the Bucharest Bar in 2025, results that speak directly to the academic rigour and discipline she brings to her practice. At the firm, Ana handles the full range of sports law mandates, representing clients in litigation before Romanian courts, in national and international arbitration proceedings, and providing judicial consultancy to athletes, clubs, and sports organisations across contractual and regulatory matters.

Ana graduated from the Faculty of Law of Babeș-Bolyai University in Cluj-Napoca in 2024. She has since pursued two parallel master’s programmes, one in European and National Business Law at Babeș-Bolyai University, which she has completed, and one in Criminal Sciences at the Faculty of Law of Titu Maiorescu University, which she is currently pursuing. This dual academic path, combining commercial law with criminal sciences, gives her a broad and rigorous legal foundation that is directly relevant to the increasingly complex legal landscape of professional sport.

Throughout her studies Ana distinguished herself both academically and in practical legal competitions, demonstrating the same discipline and commitment to excellence that brought her to the top of the national bar admission rankings. She was also awarded the Excellentia Prize 2024 for her involvement in the community, recognition of her engagement beyond the purely academic.

Sport has been a constant presence in Ana’s life, both as a practitioner and as a passionate follower of competitive sport. She believes that the values intrinsic to athletic performance, discipline, determination, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team, are equally fundamental to the practice of law at the highest level. Joining a firm dedicated entirely to sports law reflects her conviction that legal excellence and sporting excellence are built on the same foundations.

RECENT RELEVANT MATTERS:

• Provided legal assistance and representation to a professional handball player in a dispute concerning the recovery of outstanding remuneration and the unlawful termination of a sports activity contract. Following the actions undertaken, the court rendered a favorable decision, ordering the club to fully compensate the damages.
